Choosing the Right Martial Arts Program for Your Little Ones
Ultimately we'd like to be the ones that you entrust with teaching your children the martial arts, but choosing the right program for your child is the most important thing.
Below are a few tips for choosing the right program for your child:
- Speak with instructors, and if they are confident in their teaching abilities, they should have no problems answering questions.
- Watch a class and question instructors. Ask how long they've been in martial arts and their accomplishments.
- See if they're patient and able to effectively communicate with kids.
- Avoid schools that have high testing fees and have belt promotions every six weeks. Legitimate schools know that there are no short cuts in learning the martial arts.
- Introduce your child to the instructor to see how they interact.
- Talk to other parents who bring their children to the gym.
- Use the internet to research and compare programs.
We hope to see you and your child soon!
Learn Martial Arts in a Safe and Fun Environment
At Team Quest our approach to Mixed Martial Art is very different from traditional martial arts schools- from our Little Dragon classes to the kids programs are designed from the ground up to appeal to the young minds. The classes are rigorous and disciplined, but we believe the kids learn more and faster, if the training is fun. Our kids enjoy the freedom to learn and have fun in a safe and positive environment which helps them to succeed not only at our school, but in their everyday lives!
At Team Quest our goal is to develop our junior students into martial artists and athletes, but just as importantly to help them develop integrity, honesty and character. We achieve this by teaching our students a unique and cutting-edge mixed martial arts (MMA) curriculum - a combination of karate, kickboxing, boxing, wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Unlike many traditional martial arts, Team Quest kids enjoy learning a practical and healthy martial art that is truly effective. Our martial arts curriculum will give your child confidence, discipline and real self-defense skills.
The benefits of martial arts training for your child:
- Confidence
- Discipline
- Fitness
- Teamwork
- Self-Defense
CONFIDENCE
Over the years, we've observed that kids who train in the martial arts develop greater self confidence. As they progress in the programs, they're encouraged to push themselves further than they ever thought possible. Improved confidence leads to better grades, more friends and better performance in sports and extra-curricular activities. The success they experience through their martial arts training teaches them that they can be successful at anything if they are willing to the work and time into it.
DISCIPLINE
Our classes and curriculum are structured to instill in children, not mere obedience. Success in life requires the self-discipline to set and achieve personal goals. As your child progresses through the ranks - from white belt to black - they'll learn that they have to be disciplined and work hard and work smart to achieve success. This is a transformational process and it takes time to accomplish, but the positive feedback that children receive in class is a powerful motivator that can transform their behavior over time.
FITNESS
A child who is active in the martial arts will have stronger muscles and bones, as well as a leaner body and less body fat. We believe that children who start early with a regular exercise regime are less likely to become overweight in the future and will ultimately have a better outlook on life particularly as they enter into the difficult teen years.
In addition to the health benefits of regular exercise, kids who are physically fit sleep better and are better able to handle the emotional and physical challenges that a typical day can present.
TEAMWORK
Teamwork is necessary life skill for children to develop. The more confident that your child is in working with others, the more he or she will accomplish in life. Through our interactive curriculum, your child will learn to work with others to develop character and leadership skills. Over time, as a student reaches higher ranks, he or she will become a role model for younger and less experienced students.
SELF-DEFENSE
Martial arts’ training teaches two forms of self-defense mental and physical. First and foremost, our curriculum will teach your child to avoid the need for physical confrontation by learning to identify and avoid dangerous people, places and activities. We hope your child will never be in a situation where they will need to rely on their training. However, if a confrontation is unavoidable, your child’s training will have improved their physical strength, flexibility and overall health. As a result, they'll be able to run further and faster and, if necessary, strike with power and effectiveness.
Our goal at Team Quest Mixed Martial Arts is for your child to learn and have fun in a healthy and positive environment. Success comes from building on the strong foundation that you've already given them as parents - together, we can give them new tools that will help to prepare them for the world that waits.
